It’s morning and it's early and I am up which would normally never happen cause let’s face it, I like to sleep in. But I am up. I have had no coffee. Up because my brain is spinning and I kinda feel like Jerry Macguire at the beginning of that movie where he can’t sleep and he is writing that personal memo to inspire other agents to be more about the personal relationships and less about the money. You know it. And at that moment he hits “send", he knows is shunned from the world of sports management.
And from that moment his world is flipped upside down. But he is RIGHT.
Sometimes in life we just need a little inspiration. Life is hard and we all struggle....with each alarm that goes off, each cubicle we sit in, each crappy boss we report to, each carpool line we drive in, each diagnosis, each bill we pay, each grocery store visit, each meal we prepare, each laundry load, each thing we feel like we have to do, right? I recently heard an amazing woman, Ayesha Dawley say, “I want to build a life that I don’t need a vacation from.” Super. Real. Words. As an artist, I am always looking for inspiration, but I don't really feel like I am that different from any of you. We all NEED inspiration. Something to make the everyday better; to make what we say and do mean something; to make a tiny difference in someone’s life; to inspire others to know they deserve more; to help others take charge of their future; to create a life we want. to live. And I think above all of this, I want my kids to know that your ACTIONS can change the world, one person at a time.
I want to inspire. Whether it is through a painting, through creating, through these words, through my mission to educate and change the world. Our actions define who we are. And I will be a woman of action - for me, for my husband, for my kids and for everyone of you.
Being transparent. It simply means honesty. It's something I have always valued in a person. Because sometimes the truth is harder. And just like I tell my kids everyday, the truth will always be the right decision, even if it doesn't always feel like it
Life is fast. Like super fast. And being on the right side of history and learning to be forward thinking IS what is going to make this world a better place. Caring for each other and learning how to do better is our future. Be forward thinking. It’s the way of today.
Inspiration. Everyone has a story. Let yours be the reason someone you meet makes better, safer choices for themselves, their family and everyone they love. Let your story be who you are and above all DO WHAT YOU LOVE. Inspiration comes only when it is true.
Determination is a quality that we all possess. It’s that thing in you that drives you to finish what you start, show up when you are supposed to, run that extra mile, eat that salad, read another book, stay up late, get up early….you know you have it, let it make you wake up and love what you do every day.
Now this one may be one we all need to work on. Thoughtfulness. It comes from a place in our gut, not our hearts. It’s that feeling that makes your eyes tear up and your heart drop…right down to the gut. When someone does something thoughtful for you, it is a lasting feeling; a memory of a forever good. And it makes you want to do good too... Being good to each other is the most important thing we can do everyday. And letting someone know it is even better.
Be Counter to everything. do good. and know you deserve it all.

my beauty essentials to get you through the Summer.....
Mineral VS Chemical Sunscreen?
CHEMICAL SUNSCREENS... are technically sun filters. The majority of sunscreens on the market are chemical sunscreens and they are made using SPF filters like avobenzone, octinoxate or oxybenzone. They’re called sun filters because they actually absorb and scatter sun’s rays as heat. They are popular because they provide easy, transparent, and blend easily into the skin. But, at Beautycounter, we prohibit chemical filters due to their high potential for skin irritation. Did I mention the ingredients Oxybenzone and Octinoxate are horrible for the environment, especially coral reefs and most recently banned from use in the state of Hawaii. (link to more on that in comments)
✅MINERAL SUNSCREENS... are physical sunscreens. This is Beautycounter’s prefered sunscreen technology. Zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, sit on the surface of the skin and physically bounce or reflect sun’s rays away from the skin. Mineral sunscreens are great for people with sensitive skin as well as babies and kids.
So as a family we have been focusing on having 2-3 meatless meals a week, and I am always trying new recipes, so I will have all our "wins" here!
This Cheesy Eggplant Bake is a great substitute for a traditional meaty Italian dish....and my kids love it. We substitute a Gluten Free Bionaturae Organic Spaghetti to serve with it it. This recipe is from Lisa...a wife, mother, foodie, blogger, and New York Times Best-selling author who is on a mission to cut out processed foods...her site is called 100 Days of Real Food, if you haven't checked her out yet!! She has some great packed lunch ideas too!

Spinach Artichoke Enchiladas!! My kids and husband LOVE Mexican meals and these seem to be a great vegetarian option during the week with no complaints. My kids don't care for the homemade red enchilada sauce, so you can opt out there if you want to! This is from a blogger, Kate, of COOKIE + Kate, who also focuses on eating whole foods. And I do recommend a whole wheat organic tortilla OR I bake some of the filling in a small baking dish for me and serve over lettuce, brown rice, and LOTS of avocado and cilantro!!

So school will be out SOON (this week for most preschoolers!!) and I am planning my Summer now so my kids have some fun things to do! Here are some ideas I thought were fun and we are gonna try these too!
DRESS ME WALLPAPER!! So we "create" a lot in our home and I thought this would especially be fun when the kids have friends over and they need a break from outside...because in what house do you get to color on the walls?!?!?! WELL MINE OF COURSE! Easily apples to walls, comes off like a sticker and cleans with a damp cloth....and you know I love that it is Eco-friendly, FSC Certified, formaldehyde, phthalate and PVC-free and recyclable! BOOM! You need this too!
